OUR MISSION

Covering My Sisters INC is committed to supporting African American Women diagnosed with breast cancer and providing breast health education to women. The organization was born out of a need for the African American women diagnosed with breast cancer, to connect with women that look like them and to have a place to talk about their struggles/concerns with their sisters.
Our goal is to decrease African American breast cancer disparity through education, empowerment, and advocacy, one person at a time.

Long-term support

Breast cancer survivorship is on the rise and survivors are living decades past their diagnosis, especially persons diagnosed with localized breast cancer (Nih.org, 2024) There are multiple long term side effects of past treatments and survivors report feeling misunderstood after treatment, having to pretend they are well, when they are not, “friends and family members think after treatment we are ok, but our problems continue. Long term survivors need ongoing care, support and medical follow up.

Message from our chair

Rick Warren

“Remember how far you’ve come, not just how far you have to go. You may not be where you want to be neither are you where you used to be.”
